Men’s shoe outlet in Brussels: sneakers, dress shoes and boots

Updated on

Row of men's leather shoes in brown, black and yellow on boxes at Outlet Chaussures Bruxelles, Place du Jeu de Balle, Brussels

Men’s shoes outlet Brussels: at Outlet Chaussures Bruxelles, on Place du Jeu de Balle in the Marolles, you will find sneakers, dress shoes and boots for men at fixed outlet prices, from around €20 to €150. This guide covers what is on our shelves, how to find the right size and width, which pair suits work, weekends or a celebration, and how to spot a good buy.

What you will find here, type by type

We buy in bulk in Italy, directly from large retail chains, and sell those shoes in our Brussels shop at discount prices. They are new shoes, in their original box, from the recent collections of those chains. Because we buy in volume, the shelves are stacked to the ceiling and the same model often comes in several sizes. You can browse the full men’s range on our men’s shoes page.

Sneakers and trainers

On our sneaker shelves you will find leather trainers in black, blue or green, white pairs that go with almost anything and sportier models for everyday wear. Geox and Ecco stand for comfort, Valentino and Voile Blanche for Italian style.

To compare the brands, read our article on the sneaker outlet in Brussels. Ecco has a piece of its own: Ecco in Brussels, comfortable leather shoes at outlet prices.

Dress shoes

For the office, a meeting or a party, there are lace-ups and loafers in smooth leather, in black, brown and bolder shades such as yellow. The classic models are on our dress shoes page.

Boots and ankle boots

For the colder months you will find leather boots and ankle boots, with laces or a zip. Some models are lined, others waterproof or water-repellent: the box or label tells you which. Everything worth knowing before you buy is in our article on boots.

Sandals and Geox jackets

For summer, there are sandals. And while you are here for shoes, have a look at our rail of Geox jackets, also shown on our Geox jackets page.

Sizes and widths

A size 43 is not the same length in every brand. Each brand works with its own last, and even within one brand a sneaker does not always fit like a lace-up. Start from your usual size and, if in doubt, try the size next to it as well. To convert between EU, UK and US sizes, see our shoe size chart for women, men and kids.

Length is only half the story. Many men have a wide forefoot or a high instep, so a shoe that is perfect in length can still pinch at the sides. Here is how to check the fit:

  • there is roughly a finger’s width of space in front of your longest toe;
  • the ball of your foot, its widest point, sits at the widest point of the shoe;
  • your heel stays in place when you walk and does not slip up and down;
  • on a lace-up, the edges of the lacing do not meet, but they do not gape wide open either;
  • you feel no pressure on the instep, even when you bend your knees.

Leather gives a little in width after a few weeks, never in length: a shoe that is too short will stay too short. Try shoes on with the socks you will actually wear, usually thicker ones for boots. If your feet hurt, see a doctor or podiatrist.

Work, weekends, celebrations

With three pairs, most men have the essentials covered: one for work, one for the weekend and one for special occasions.

For work

In an office with a strict dress code, wear a lace-up in smooth leather: black with a dark suit, brown with a lighter suit or chinos. If the dress code is more relaxed, a plain leather sneaker in black or navy works well. Between the station, the metro and the office, Brussels often means cobblestones, so choose a flexible sole that does not slip.

For the weekend

Weekends give you more freedom: white sneakers, coloured leather trainers or, in winter, ankle boots that go with jeans. Stroll around the Place du Jeu de Balle flea market on a Sunday morning and you will soon know which pair stays comfortable after a few hours on your feet.

For a wedding or party

With a suit for a wedding or a party, choose a smart lace-up in smooth leather, black or dark brown, well polished. Match your belt to your shoes. Wear new shoes a few times at home, so the big day is not the first time they are on your feet. More combinations are in our article on dress shoes for work, a wedding or a party.

Men’s shoes outlet Brussels: how to spot a good buy

A good buy is a shoe you wear often and for a long time, not necessarily the cheapest pair on the shelf. A slightly dearer pair that lasts two winters costs less per wear than one that is worn out after a season. So when you try shoes on, check:

  • the box and label: brand, size and the pictograms for upper, lining and sole, which tell you whether it is leather or synthetic;
  • the finish: straight stitching, no traces of glue, a sole that is firmly attached all round;
  • both feet: try the left and the right shoe, because almost everyone has one foot slightly larger than the other;
  • walking: go up and down the aisle a few times and notice whether anything pinches or rubs.

There is no need to rush with us. Our prices are fixed, permanent outlet prices all year round, with no temporary promotions. The stock does change as new deliveries arrive, though: if you see your model in your size, it is best not to wait too long.

We only sell in the shop, not online. So come and try them on at Place du Jeu de Balle 40, every day from 10 am to 3.30 pm, Sundays included. From Brussels-Midi (South) station it is about fifteen minutes on foot, and STIB metro, tram and bus services run nearby, with the Jeu de Balle and Chapelle stops. Directions and parking are on our shop and directions page.
