Boots outlet in Brussels: leather, lined and waterproof
Looking for a “boots outlet Brussels”? In our shop on Place du Jeu de Balle, in the heart of the Marolles, you will find ankle boots, knee-high boots, Chelsea boots and lace-up boots in leather or suede, lined or unlined, at fixed outlet prices. This guide explains which style suits you, what to check when trying them on and how to get your boots through a Brussels winter.
Types of boots: ankle, knee-high and Chelsea
Depending on deliveries, you will find the following styles in our shop, for women and for men. Our current selection is on our boots page.
Ankle boots
The ankle boot comes just above the ankle and is the most versatile style: under jeans, with a skirt or with trousers, at the office and at the weekend.
Knee-high boots
Knee-high boots reach mid-calf or just below the knee and keep the whole lower leg warm. They are especially popular with women, over slim trousers or under a dress. When trying them on, check the shaft: it should close around your calf without pinching.
Chelsea boots and lace-up boots
You can spot a Chelsea boot by its elastic side panels. With no laces or zip, it works just as well with a suit as with jeans. Lace-up boots fasten above the ankle: they hold the foot firmly and let you fine-tune the fit, which helps with a narrow or a wide foot.
| Type | Height | Fastening | Wear with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ankle boot | Just above the ankle | Zip or laces | Jeans, skirt, trousers |
| Knee-high boot | Mid-calf to knee | Zip | Slim trousers, dress |
| Chelsea boot | Just above the ankle | Elastic side panels | Suit, jeans |
| Lace-up boot | Above the ankle | Laces | Jeans, sturdy trousers |

What to check when choosing boots
A good pair of boots should last more than one winter. Check these points in the shop:
- The upper: leather, suede or synthetic. The label inside the shoe uses pictograms to show what the upper, lining and sole are made of.
- The lining: a lined boot is ideal for cold days, an unlined one for autumn and spring.
- The sole: a rubber sole with a good tread grips wet cobblestones better than a smooth one.
- The heel: a wide, low heel is steadier than a thin, high one.
- The finish: open and close the zip a few times and look at the stitching.
Leather is supple and lasts for years if you look after it. Suede and nubuck are softer but more sensitive to damp and salt. Synthetic materials need less care but are usually less breathable than leather.

Try boots on with your winter socks, ideally after a walk. Your toes should move freely and your heel should not slip as you walk. Sizes vary from brand to brand: if in doubt, try the next size up as well, and check our shoe size conversion chart before you come.
Waterproof or water-repellent?
The two words do not mean the same thing. A waterproof boot keeps water out, even during a long downpour or when you step in a puddle. Usually there is a membrane between the upper and the lining, and the seams are sealed.
A water-repellent boot has a treated upper on which raindrops bead and roll off. That is enough for a short shower or a walk on wet pavements, but in steady rain the water will eventually get through. The treatment also wears off, so renew it regularly with a waterproofing spray.
The box or the label tells you which one you are buying, and you are welcome to ask us in the shop. Look at the tongue too: a tongue stitched to the shaft on both sides lets in less water than a loose one. A simple rule of thumb:
- You walk or take public transport every day, rain or shine: choose waterproof.
- You mostly drive and only walk short distances: water-repellent is usually enough.
- Suede and nubuck: always spray them before the first wear, membrane or not.
Geox is known for its breathable sole, which lets moisture escape from inside the shoe. At Ecco, depending on deliveries, you will find boots in supple leather for long winter days.
Winter care
Road salt, rain and mud are hard on boots. A few simple habits will keep them looking good for several seasons:
- Waterproof new boots before you wear them for the first time, then regularly throughout the winter.
- Wipe off white salt marks as soon as possible with a damp cloth, before they soak into the leather.
- Let wet boots dry at room temperature with newspaper inside, never against a radiator: leather hardens and can crack.
- Once dry, give smooth leather a little shoe cream; brush suede and nubuck with a dedicated brush.
- Alternate between two pairs so each one can dry out completely.
After the winter, store them clean and dry. Our guide to leather shoe care walks you through every step, and our article on winter shoes for Brussels streets helps you choose against cold, rain and ice.
Boots outlet Brussels: when to buy
With us, there is no need to wait for a particular time of year. We buy in bulk in Italy, directly from large retail chains, and sell those shoes in our Brussels shop at discount prices. They are fixed, permanent prices all year round, with no temporary promotions. Depending on brand and model, our shoes cost roughly €20 to €150.
The best moment, then, is before the first cold, wet weeks: that leaves you time to waterproof your boots and wear them a few times. New deliveries arrive regularly, so the range changes over the season.
These are new boots in their original box, from the recent collections of those chains. If you also need a warm coat, the shop has a rail of Geox jackets.

Come and try them on: the shop is at Place du Jeu de Balle 40, on the square of the flea market that is held there every morning, about fifteen minutes on foot from Brussels-Midi (South) station. We are open every day from 9.30 am to 4 pm, Sundays included. For directions by metro, tram, bus or car, see our shop and directions page. More styles are waiting in our women’s shoes outlet and men’s shoes outlet.
Your questions about boots
Are the boots in your outlet new?
Yes. They are new boots in their original box, from recent collections. We buy them in bulk in Italy from large retail chains and sell them at fixed outlet prices.
What is the difference between waterproof and water-repellent boots?
A waterproof boot keeps water out even in long spells of rain, usually thanks to a membrane and sealed seams. A water-repellent boot has a treated upper that handles a short shower but may let water through in steady rain. Check the box or ask us in the shop.
Should I buy boots a size up?
Not automatically. Try them on with your winter socks: your toes should move freely and your heel should not slip. Because sizes vary from brand to brand, try both sizes if in doubt and compare.
